What are we about?
Do you ever enter a church and wonder why they do things the way they do? It doesn't have to be a Lutheran church. Every church has a method or "liturgy" to how they worship. A nondenominational church may have a certain number of songs before announcements, a time of greeting your neighbor, and more songs before a sermon, followed by even more songs. That is a liturgy.
Or maybe you wonder why it is we as Christians believe certain things that we do. Why do we get baptized, why do we take Holy Communion, and why is the Word of God so important? What are "confessions of faith" and "creeds"?
Or perhaps you were part of a church where you experienced deep hurt, where trust was broken, where you were misunderstood, or where grace was overshadowed by judgment. Maybe you were subjected to church discipline without care, suffered spiritual abuse at the hands of a pastor or fellow believer, or have come to see yourself as one of the many who carry the scars of what people now call “church hurt.” If that’s your story, know that you’re not alone, and that Christ’s mercy and truth remain for you.
